A policy think thank IMANI Ghana, has jumped to the defense of  Mr. Eric Odoi Anim, a former Director of Passport, calling on government to reinstate him immediately.

Mr. Eric Odoi Anim  was arrested by Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) after being implicated in the alleged fraudulent acquisition of passport by the former Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkoranza North Constituency, Eric Amoateng.

Mr. Eric Odoi Anim was later reported to have been sacked by the president for “encouraging the activities of illegal passport contractors, while in office.

Meanwhile the President of IMANI Ghana, Franklin Cudjoe, speaking on Eye Witness News on Tuesday urged government to reinstate the Odoi-Anim because all the allegations levelled against Mr Anim-Odoi are false.

“This is a state that not long ago claimed that the gentleman was money laundering, disgraced him and later found out that they were just shamefully acting on every chance. We have been following keenly activities in the Foreign Ministry and the passport office. This career diplomat has done all he can to professionalize the Passport Office” he said.

Franklin Cudjoe suggested that the best way of punishing Mr Odoi-Anim was to go according to the rules and regulation of the civil service instead of sacking him.

“What should happen under the normal rules of conduct within which this misdemonor or criminal act would be solved is within the civil and diplomatic service whose  disciplinary  mechanism would initiate the process and exhaust the procedures. All we are saying is that if the gentlemen has been found culpable of the misdeed that has been announced, why don’t we get into the matter of the rules of that conduct,” he indicated.
