The Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Paul Afoko has described the ongoing Super Delegates Congress as successful.

Voting is expected to close at 1500GMT  for the counting to begin.

787 delegates of the New Patriotic Party are voting across  ten regions in Ghana to prune the number of aspirants seeking to lead the party in the 2016 presidential elections from seven to five.

The seven aspirants contesting in Sunday’s Super Congress include; Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, Stephen Asamoah-Boateng, Francis Addai-Nimoh, Kofi Osei Ameyaw, Alan Kyerematen, Nana Akufo-Addo, and Joe Ghartey.

The exercise which begun at 0800GMT has seen reports of violence in the Northern region where confusion broke out after one of the delegates showed a picture of his ballot to the gathering at the stadium.

Also, there was some disagreement at the Osu Salem park when officials prevented Tema East Member of Parliament (MP), Titus Glover from voting for fellow MP, lawyer Adwoa Sarfo.

However, in an interview with CitiNews, the chairman of the NPP, Paul Afoko has described the Super Congress  as successful inspite of  some of the challenges reported.

“The process has been good; it has been calm and very orderly. We haven’t had any problems or whatsoever. Just a little hiccup, but it isn’t significant. So I can say that in general it has been a good day”, he noted.
