As the New Patriotic Party goes to the polls today to reduce the seven candidates vying to lead the party in the 2016 presidential race to five, a financial consultant Sydney, Casely-Hayford has tipped a win for Nana Addo Dunkwa Akuffo-Addo.

He stated that considering the current economic hardship under President Mahama, the NPP can only win the 2016 elections with Nana Addo who is already known and has sympathy votes.

About 787 delegates are taking part in the NPP’s Super Delegates Congress today.

These delegates are made up of Constituency Chairmen, Regional Executives, Members of Parliament, National Executive Committee members, Funding members, Members of the Council of Elders.

The party will then hold another congress on October 18, 2014 to choose the ultimate flagbearer to lead the party in 2016.

Nana Akuffo-Addo has been criticized by party members and opposition parties for being too old which could affect his performance when he is elected to lead the party again.

But speaking on the Big Issue on Citi Fm on Saturday, the financial consultant predicted a landslide victory for Nana Addo.

“I think Nana Addo will win very clearly, this is not because of what people have said in the media. I think realistically the NPP will think about the most recognized person on their side. They will think about the amount of resources they would save by going with the candidate that is already recognized. They will also look at the candidate who they think can beat President John Mahama,” he indicated.
