Opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) youth in the Northern Region have reminded the party’s delegates of the need to by popular acclamation endorse Nana Akufo Addo’s candidature at the forthcoming super delegates congress.

Hundreds of them on Saturday August 30, 2014 clad in NPP T’ Shirts hit some principal streets of Tamale amidst singing and dancing.

Executives of the three constituencies in the Tamale Metro Area joined the road procession and re-echoed their slogan “No Nana, No vote in 2016.”

They held placards some of which read, “Nana save Ghanaians” “Power now not 2020”  “Alliance for victory 2016” and “We need peace within NPP for victory 2016.”

The road procession which lasted for several hours was climaxed with a mini rally at one of the popular NPP youth camps called Oscar Base near the Tamale West Hospital.

Addressing the teeming crowd, the Regional Youth Organizer, Alhaji Rashid Salifu COP said the party will damage its electoral victory in 2016 without Nana Akufo Addo as the flag bearer.

He implored the delegates to demonstrate their hunger for political power by giving Nana Addo one touch success.

Alhaji Rashid COP claimed the NPP’s twice Presidential candidate will get over 90% of the vote cast at the super delegates congress.

The Tamale central constituency Secretary, Musah Mutawakil explained that their endorsement of Nana Akufo Addo never meant they were against the other six aspirants.

According to him, Nana Akufo Addo’s popularity was unmatched with that of the other aspirants, hence their clarion call for him to be given the nod.

He asserted that the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) will hand over power to Nana Akufo Addo after the 2016 polls to fix the economy.

At the rally, the regional Chairman, Daniel Bugri Naabu commended the party’s youth in the region for their forethought.

He declared Nana Akufo Addo automatic winner of the impending super and national delegates’ congress.

He thereby inspired the youth to start house to house campaigns to maximize the party’s support base in the region.

Daniel Bugri Naabu called for unity after the flag bearer contest to wrestle power from the NDC in 2016.

The road procession ended peacefully without police escort though the event organizers told Citi News the regional Police command was  officially informed ahead of the event.
