Stephen Atubiga one of the popular names from the election petition, has said that he has been having sleepless nights after his imprisonment.

Stephen Atubiga a member of the NDC communications team was sentenced to three days in prison after making comments deemed contemptuous by the panel of judges.

He says he has battled with depression due to his experience in jail.

Speaking in an interview with Citi News, he  explained that the apology rendered  when he appeared before the petition was genuine.

“When I look back honestly speaking the apology I surrendered to the justices was from the bottom of my heart”.

“I get so depressed that I ask myself where you have put the family name and the situation is so painful too,” he added.

He said although the incident has made him famous, his image as a politician has been dented beyond repair.

“Forget about the fame that it came along with, example maybe when you go pump gas and someone pays for you. Also when you go eat in a restaurant and before you turn around someone has already paid for you but the pain it brought on as politician is worse.”
