The Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams says the Ghanaian economy is doing well despite the numerous economic challenges.
The nation’s economy has been hit with a number of challengings including a rising deficit and a continous depreciation of the Cedi and rising cost of living.
The situation has forced government to seek a financil bailout from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to stabilize the economy.
However, in an interview on Citi FM’s Point Blank, Kofi Adams insists the economy is doing well and added that, the government is laying a solid foundation in building the economy which will benefit Ghanaians in the long-run.
“…Come down to Ghana and see the level of growth and development…if you invest in a gas project of almost $850 million, that gas project will not finish in two years, it will take time for you to do it.”
He cited the shoe and sugar factory as examples to buttress his argument and maintained it was going to take time for the government to achieve results.
Reacting to alleged cases of corruption within government,Kofi Adams explained that; “Corruption is something that nobody is happy about, so we are not celebrating corruption, that is why President Mahama explained corruption as mass murder.”
“Because if you engage in any act of corruption, you are taking away resources for the people just for your own selfish good”, he noted
He concluded by urging members of the NDC to vote for him at the party’s upcoming congress stating that he was the right man for the job.
“I believe we have reached a point where we have to change the dynamics of the party….We are in a different situation and I believe i am the best man for the job at this moment.”
