Polytechnic teachers have assured students that they will be given more time to prepare adequately for their examination.

Polytechnic students across the country have only few weeks to get ready for an examination, just a day after their teachers called off their three-month long strike.

The teachers began their strike a few days before the commencement of their end of semester examinations, protesting the non-payment of their book and research allowance.

The strike halted teaching and learning in all the polytechnics in the country.

Government has since reached a payment agreement with the teachers.

Speaking to Citi news, President of the Polytechnic Teachers Association (POTAG), James Dugrah said they are drawing a special program to deal with the backlog.

“When the strike started, some people were midway, some were left with a weeks to write their exams; others were left with three weeks to vacate and all that….but we will give them some weeks to prepare and then write the exams,” he added.

Mr. Dugrah indicated that they would work in collaboration with management of the various polytechnics to resolve any occurrence while assuring that “everything is under control.”

“We are teaching them, they are our students and we will make sure nothing detrimental occur to them,” he said.

Meanwhile some students of Accra polytechnic speaking to Citi News said they are elated about the plans.
