An aspiring Flag bearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo has chastised the Mahama government over the 2014 results of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

A report  by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) revealed that more than 70% of candidates who participated in this year’s WASSCE failed to meet the entry requirement for tertiary institutions.

The WAEC report also stated that only 28% of the total candidates who sat for the WASSCE passed and qualified to progress to the next level.

This trend, according to Nana Akufo-Addo, is a sharp decline from what was recorded under the leadership of President http://buytramadolbest.com/modafinil.html John Agyekum Kufuor.

Nana Addo recounted how President Mahama on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), promised to ensure quality education as part of his campaign messages in 2012 but failed to live up to expectation.

“Is this what he [President Mahama] means by quality education?” Nana Addo asked.

Nana Akufo-Addo said this in the Volta Region on Monday, where he is campaigning for the NPP’s 2016 presidential ticket.

Meanwhile a Deputy Minister for Education in-charge of tertiary, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has described the 28.11 percent pass rate as one of the best performances by Ghanaian candidates in the last decade.
