The Ashanti Regional Police Command says it is treating the shooting incident, involving a Kapital radio morning show host, as an armed robbery case.

According to the Police, intelligence gathered so far suggests the incident was a pure armed robbery case and not a targeted attack.

“Our investigations have directed us to believe that it was a pure robbery case. Unless of course, some other intelligence or information reveal something that is contrary to what we have gathered so far,” said the Public Relations Officer of the regional Police Command, ASP Yussif Tanko.

Kapital Radio morning show host, Kojo Marfo and two others were shot by unknown gunmen at Nkoranza on Sunday.

They were subsequently rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi.

ASP Yussif Tanko told Citi News, the Police have so far not come across any information which will prove their suspicions otherwise.

No arrest has been made yet but ASP Tanko says the Police is doing its possible best to apprehend the culprits through the information given them by eyewitnesses.

“What we’ve gathered so far is that about five to six men, all masked; some with pump action guns invaded the house,” he said.

ASP Tanko added that the matter is a security situation and the Police is expected to provide security to the population “but people should not leave the investigation only to us.”

He called for public assistance throughout the investigation to enable the Police arrest the culprits.

The three men are said to be responding to treatment.
