The Steering Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will meet on Monday to discuss modalities for its upcoming special congress and the controversies that have engulfed the party in recent weeks.

The New Patriotic Party(NPP) have been in the news for the wrong reasons after some supporters stormed the party’s headquarters, disrupting an ongoing press conference and vandalized property on the compound.

Former President, John Agyekum Kufour has since called for calm and urged the party loyalists to desist from any form of violent acts.

The elders of the party have also issued a press statement ordering the hierarchy of the party to desist from internal bickering and squabbling and to focus on reclaiming victory for the party in the upcoming general elections in 2016.

Wednesday’s meeting is to allow members of the steering committee settle all the issues within the party and strategize ahead of the special congress.

This upcoming Special Congress on August 31 will be used to prune their presidential hopefuls from seven to five before the national congress which will be held in October.
