A group calling itself Komkomba youth for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused the governing NDC and President Mahama of neglect and ignoring their interest.

The group indicated that after ensuring the  return of eight MPs to parliament on the ticket of the NDC, they had not received any appointment, under the leadership of President Mahama.

The group also noted that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was more sympathetic to them because during the party’s tenure, it nominated some Konkombas in 2004 to ministerial positions among others unlike the NDC.

The group have therefore threatened to abandon the NDC in 2016 if they are not recognized by President Mahama in his administration.

Speaking on Eyewitness News, the spokesperson for the group, Solomon Tamanja further stated that “what the NDC and President Mahama promised to give is not what we are seeing and we are just trying to remind him about his promises – what he told us before we went for elections.”

“if you labour with somebody and the end of the day there is something good and the person ignores you that is how you will sound,” he questioned.

In a rebuttal, the deputy Minister of Information, Mr. Murtala Mohammed dismissed the claims by Mr. Solomon Tamanja, adding that he (Solomon) should be checked by the security agencies since he was making statements that were dangerous in an already volatile situation in the country.

“ As a little boy growing, I experienced conflicts that were going between Konkombas and other tribes. I still remember how families were torn apart, how people were killed and how villages were destroyed so for someone to be inciting that, I think that it is very dangerous and the security agencies should invite him over for interrogation.”

He also dismissed claims that the Konkombas were not given ministerial positions within the NDC.
