A deputy national youth organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), James Kofi Fonu Kpatapkpa is advocating for a nationwide education for grassroot supporters on the fundamental principles and core values of the party.

He said as a social democratic political party, the NDC revolves around its core values which are freedom, solidarity, equity and justice.

But according to him, majority of its supporters are ignorant about such values, thereby engaging in acts that are contrary and detrimental to the growth and development of the party

Mr. Pkatapka was addressing members of the Tertiary Education Institutional Network (TEIN) of the NDC in the Upper West region at Wa as part of a three-day working visit to the region.

He believes the unceasing demands that has engulfed the NDC by  supporters across the country is because of the desire for individual gain rather than “the collective good” of Ghanaians which the party believes in.

“I have realized that many of the young people in the NDC do not know the philosophy upon which we are riding on. A slight difficulty within the party, then either they issue a statement, they go against the government, saying they are not getting anything. We are putting our ideologies somewhere trying to follow an ideology that is not part of our history,” Mr.Kpatapka lamented.

He criticized supporters of the NDC who keep referring their leadership to the times when opposition New Patriotic Party was in power.

He warned the situation could have dire consequence for the NDC  “I don’t know whether it’s a mistake or what, many at time our party people will come and give examples that when the NPP was in in power, they did this and that and that”

The deputy national youth organizer assured the TEIN executive as well as all Ghanaians that government will soon roll out policies and programs to improve their living conditions .

He said over 10,000 students in deprived communities across the country will be receiving government scholarship.
