For several years, sporadic conflicts in the north have detracted from the beauty of the region, leaving it with nothing but bad press.

The situation has arguably rendered the area one of the highly impoverished regions in the country.

But it appears that this period is phasing out as chiefs of Tamale are a staging a serious campaign to get investors into the region.

In an attempt to notch up the level of goodwill Ghanaians have for the north and to properly market the wealth of the region over its numerous ills purveyed by the press, the Tamale Chief, Dakpema Naa Alhassan Dawuni, and his entourage participated in the 22nd edition of the Ghana lnternational Trade Fair.

Several patrons of the 22nd edition of the Ghana lnternational Trade Fair were held spellbound to rich traditional songs, cultural dances, drumming among others.

There was also the firing of musketry and display of black magic such as boiling of hot water without fire and various horse dances.

“Enough of the bad press, there is so much good in the north. We have vast arable lands for farming that investors are needed on board. We have a rich culture and several tourist sites for the adventurous and good food for cultural enthusiasts.”

“So you see the north is not about conflict, we are ready for business now,” Mohammed Hatiz, Dema Naa l (Entertainment Chief of Tamale) appealed to Ghanaians.”

Several musicians from the north also took turns to entertain patrons of the Ghana lnternational Trade Fair.

“This is a beautiful spectacle. It’s the first time and the closest l have come to the northern culture. It’s fun and l’m enjoying it,” said Kwame Korankye, a banker.

The Northern Exposure was sponsored by the McDan Group of Companies, whose group chairman Dr. Daniel Mckorley also doubles as the Gugba Naa or Unifier of the Northern Region.

The event also brought together several beauty queens from the north and some government officials from the same region.
