The Yaa-Naa’s representative in Tamale, Gulkpegu Naa Alhassan Abdulai  has expressed his displeasure about the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection’s silence on the Tamale sex scandal.

Since the leaked sex tape went viral on social media networking sites, some concerned leaders including President of the Tamale Concerned Citizens Association, Basharu Alhassan Dabal-li  have admonished the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection to launch full scale investigations into the matter.

It is against this backdrop that the revered Gulkpegu Naa Alhassan Abdulai has added his voice to calls on Nana Oye Lithur to consider the Tamale sex scandal as a national catastrophe and immediately set up a committee to investigate it.

The Gulkpegu Naa’s Spokesperson,  Latif Salifu (Saha-Naa) at a news conference in Tamale suggested that the women who were on the tape should be invited by an investigative body for guidance and counseling.

According to him, the Tamale sex scandal should serve as a wakeup call to religious and traditional authorities in Dagbon to fight against moral decadence in the area.

Latif Salifu Saha-Naa also called for responsible parenthood saying, “This is also a challenge to parents to be abreast with what their children or wards are doing in and out of school at all times. Though the nude pictures of the victims might have brought shame to their parents, it should also be seen as an indictment on parents who do not have a clue of the social lives of their children.”

Saha Naa Latif Salifu pleaded with the mass media to exercise maximum restraint in their reportage to avoid anarchy.

“We are appealing to the media to exercise restraint in their reportage whiles the issue is under investigation.”
