The Attorney General’s (AG) Department on Wednesday failed to produce a file on 34 billion old Ghana Cedis (GHC 3.4m) judgment debt paid to one Nana Emmanuel Duke Woode for the confiscation of his companies.

The state confiscated Holex Ghana Limited and Priorities Ghana Limited, timber companies belonging to Nana Woode who sued the A-G leading to the award of judgment debt to Woode in 2006.

Briefing the media after the sitting, Counsel to the Judgement Debt Commission, Mr Dometi Kofi Sokpor, said the Commission had invited the Attorney General  to furnish it with the details of the payment but the A-G’s representative, Mrs Dorothy Afriyie Ansah said her department after “diligent search” could not find the file.

Mr Sokpor said the Commission will subpoena the Ministry of Finance to explain “what exactly transpired.”

He added that the A-G could still not locate the file on the matter relating to a petition for payment of judgment debt to Kwasi Adjei and two others.

Their relatives had been killed in an accident involving the Ghana Armed Forces fire engine vehicle and a Kia Truck at Kintampo, but the A-G again failed to make the file available to the commission as requested.
