The Concerned Citizens Association of Tamale is asking the Gender, Children and Social Protection Minister, Nana Oye Lithur to launch full scale investigations into the Tamale sex scandal.

The Association’s President, Basharu Alhassan Dabal-li is unhappy about Nana Oye Lithur’s silence on the issue which involves about 50 young ladies in a sex scandal.

Basharu Alhassan Dabal-li is also asking the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection to find a way of blocking further circulation of the pornographic photos and videos.

“We are calling on the Gender, Children and Social Protection at least to institute an investigation into this particular act and if they can block further pictures from been posted into the social media it will be good for us as a people.”

Basharu Alhassan Dabal-li explained, “A lot of people will be affected especially women who are married now: some are married women and some are yet to marry but when they did this they were not married, this is the social angle we are coming from.”

In a related development, Muslim Cleric in Tamale, Sheik Aswad Bawa is calling on all Muslims having the nude photos and videos on their phones to delete them.

But the Northern Regional Youth Imam, Sheikh Awal Napari disagreed.

Though he condemned those keeping it for evil intentions, Sheikh Awal Napari said Muslim preachers can keep it as evidence.

He narrated how he tendered in some of the pornographic photos and videos as evidence at the Tamale chief’s palace to save a married woman who was accused of being one the ladies involved in the sex scandal.

Similarly, a worried parent of one of the ladies involved in the Tamale sex scandal (name withheld) has passionately appealed to circulators of the pornographic photos and videos to cease fire.

He apologized for the involvement of his daughter in that shameful act but maintained that efforts must be made to block further circulation of the pornographic photos and videos.

In an exclusive interview with Citi News on grounds of anonymity, the traumatized father argued that persistent circulation of the pornographic photos and videos might lure majority of the youth to replicate the immoral act.

He bemoaned, “As Muslims and Christians we don’t need to encourage it because it is an indictment on our women and even the men as well, so I am appealing to the general public to let us put an end to it wherever it has ended, so that the youth can concentrate on their studies and marriage.”

He emphasized, “What is happening is a disgrace to our nation and so we don’t need to encourage it for those who haven’t seen it to copy: as it is happening junior children and young men who don’t know the rationale behind it will copy it blindly and it will affect our society in future.”
