The Member of Parliament for the Savelugu Constituency, Alhaji Mohammed Abdul Somed Gunu, has extended pipe borne water to Bihinaayili, a densely populated farming community in the Savelugu/Nanton Municipality of the Northern Region.

This is in fulfillment of his 2016 campaign promise to save the lives of residents of Bihinaayili who over the years have been drinking contaminated water from the same source with their animals.

The Savelugu Legislator at the inaugural and handing over ceremony reaffirmed his commitment to provide the basic needs of his constituents.

Alhaji Mohammed Abdul Somed Gunu explained that, “Bihinaayili for a very long time has been one of the water stressed communities in the Savelugu-Nanton Municipality, and the lack of pipe borne water in the community has compelled residents to drink from a pond that is believed to have been poisoned by the residues of chemical fertilizers and insecticides washed into it from a piece of land being used for dry season gardening.”

He thanked the electorate there for giving him the mantle to represent them in Parliament, and reassured them of serving their interest.

As a social development expert, Alhaji Gunu also inaugurated and handed over a borehole facility to the people of Botingli.

He pleaded with the chiefs and people of the beneficiary communities to intensify their peaceful coexistence to attract investors to the Savelugu constituency.

According to him, the projects were funded by his share of the Members of Parliament Common Fund which is part of the Municipal Assembly’s budgetary allocations.

Alhaji Mohammed Abdul Somed Gunu said Nana Akufo Addo’s government was determined to appreciably develop the nation in line with its major 2016 campaign promises.

He said the Savelugu/Nanton Municipality is on government’s priority list for which reason the people should be law abiding.

The Savelugu/Nanton Municipal Chief Executive, Hajia Ayishetu Seidu, commended the MP for augmenting the Assembly’s efforts towards alleviating the plight of the suffering masses.

She called for deeper collaboration to execute government’s pro-poor programmes including the one district-one factory, and one village-one dam projects.
