Daughters of former President Jerry John Rawlings, Ezenator and Yaa Asantewaa Agyeman Rawlings have donated 20 bags of rice and 10 cartons of chicken to Braimah Kamoko (Bukom Banku) and Michael Ayittey Okine (Ayittey Powers).

The items donated were to congratulate the two controversial boxers for bringing back the spirit of boxing to the nation, when they drove thousands of fans to the Accra Sports Stadium to witness the much published bout.

According to them, the two boxers lifted the image of boxing again in the country and that it takes only discipline and courage to harness a talent to achieve success in any sporting discipline.

Ezenator Rawlings said: “It was such a pleasure to witness this boxing bout. It takes a lot of discipline to actually achieve what you did that night. Anyone can have a talent for any sporting discipline but it takes extra discipline and courage to make it through on a consistent basis.

“They did something special at the time when Ghanaians thought boxing was dead and it brought enthusiasm and brought us together as a nation that cuts across the boundaries of ethnicity and political partisanship and I believe it’s one the things that we can do to go forward as a nation to lift the image of the country again as Ghanaians rather than a polarized nation”.

She called on Kamoko and Ayittey to use their position to encourage the younger generation and appealed to the Minister of Youth and Sports Mahama Ayariga to pay equal attention to all the sporting disciplines in the country to thrive ahead.
