The CEO of the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunication, Kenneth Ashigbey, has promised that the chamber will support the development of women and girls in the telecommunication sector.

He said this when the CEO of Women in Tech Africa, Ethel Cofie, and her team met him to discuss strategic alliances between the two organisations.

Mr Ashigbey observed that the best way to change the trend of having very few women and girls participating in technology is to make sure that the teaching of technology codes and development is started from the basic level, as low as the primary school.

He added that the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunication plans to take an active look at issues of women and girls’ participation in technology and practical development.

On her part, Ethel Cofie asked that the Chamber includes women and girls in their plans for 2018 and beyond.
