University of Cape Coast (UCC)  has indefinitely postponed its re-opening date due to what it describes as “circumstance beyond control”

UCC was initially scheduled to re-open school on the 2nd and 9th August, 2014 for fresh and continuing students respectively.

Though reasons for the postponement was not clearly stated, it is believed that it is as a result of the strike by the University’s branch of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG).

A press statement issued by the University noted that “new reopening arrangement will be announced later.”

It further entreated students to “keep checking the electronic and print media as well as the University’s website – www.ucc.edu for more updates.”

Below is the full statement issued by the University

It is hereby announced for the information of all fresh and continuing students of the University of Cape Coast as well as the general public that, due to circumstances beyond the control of University Management, the re-opening date of the University for the 2014/2015 Academic Year has been postponed INDEFINITELY.

New re-opening arrangements will be announced later. All are entreated to keep checking in the electronic and print media as well the University website for UPDATES.

We regret the inconvenience caused.

REGISTRAR,

7TH AUGUST, 2014.
