Major League Soccer side New York Red Bulls FC, have parted ways with Ghana defender Gideon Baah after 22 months at the club.

Baah joined the MLS side from Finnish top flight club HJK Helsinki, but his stint in New York has been plagued by injuries.

The club made the announcement on Monday as it sought to outline its squad for the coming season.

Baah was among 10 players Red Bulls decided to let go after their season ended in the playoffs with a loss to Toronto FC.

The former Asante Kotoko man looked to have been a major steal when acquired in February 2016, and was impressive in the limited number of games he got until he broke his leg in 2016, and then was surprisingly placed on IR in 2017.

Baah only played 9 games for The Metros but via an Instagram post, he expressed his gratitude to the team for his time there.

The post read: “Special thanks to the @newyorkredbulls family. It’s been a pleasure.”
