The Ghana Police Service is to recruit 15,000 Community Policing Assistants through the Youth Employment Agency (YEA).
The youth, who would be employed, would be from the communities, and focus would be on those who are familiar with their communities, and could help the police in gathering intelligence to help reduce crime in the country.
This was disclosed by the Director of the National Police Patrol Department (NPD), Commissioner of Police (COP) Akuribah Yaagy, at a meeting with police personnel in Koforidua.

He said it is only when the communities are safe that investors would be motivated to invest in the country.
Mad rush for police forms; applicants stranded at GCB offices
A lot of Ghanaians are buying vouchers from the GCB bank nationwide to apply for recruitment into the Ghana Police service.
The Police Service last Monday began the process to recruit new personnel.
Scores of anxious applicants were last week left stranded at some branches of the GCB Bank Limited at Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, following a system failure in the sale of electronic vouchers for the exercise.
Citi News’ Ashanti Regional Correspondent, Hafiz Tijani, who visited the Asafo and Harper Road GCB branches in Kumasi, reported that some applicants who were mostly first timers, trooped these two banks around 3:00am to get the vouchers at the cost of Ghc50:00, but waited for over two hours before they were attended to.
