Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Beatrice Zakpaa Vib-Sanziri, Tema Regional Police Commander, has called for collaboration between the police and the public to enhance public safety and security.

She said the life blood of the Police Service was the constant flow of reliable information without which there would be chaos in society resulting in the loss of human dignity and poor quality of life.

DCOP Vib-Sanziri was addressing a stakeholders’ workshop on community safety, security and crime prevention dubbed; “Working towards more Effective and Sustainable Security Planning and Crime Prevention in the Ningo-Prampram Community”.

The workshop was organised by the Ningo Prampram District Police Command and the Ningo Prampram District Assembly (NiPDA) for residents of Miotso near Prampram in the Greater Accra Region.

DCOP Vib-Sanziri said the priority of the police was to promote safety by maximizing resources which included working with Neighbourhood Watchdog Committees to make them more effective in community safety and crime prevention.

She urged the stakeholders to assist the police with logistics to enable them to respond swiftly to emergency situations when called upon.

Al-Hajj Sa Rhack Nartey, Ningo-Prampram District Chief Executive, said the theme for the workshop was relevant as it related and reinforced the citizen’s concerns on security in the district.

He said his outfit would ensure that the needed support for security operatives was mobilised to help reduce the crime rate in the district.

He said the District Security Committee (DISEC) had put in measures to help the police intensify their patrols in and around the district to combat criminal activities.

Al -Hajj Nartey said as part of the District Assembly’s social responsibility to beef up security in the district, a new Police Station is being constructed around Methodist Junction in New Dawhenya and that the Assembly would furnish it and provide logistics for its smooth running.

He promised that all existing police posts in the district would be refurbished to ensure that the police run their activities smoothly.
