The five students who were arrested in connection with a recent clash between students of Tema Technical Institute and Chemu Senior High School also in Tema, have been granted bail.

A student, who was reported to have been injured in the clash, is still on admission at the hospital.

Police are yet to establish what sparked the clashes as investigations are still ongoing.

The Chemu Senior High School has been forced to go on a mid-term break, after the clashes between students of both schools on Wednesday, November 1.

The Tema Technical Institute is also on a mid-term break, although an officer at the school, who spoke to Citi News, did not attribute this development to the confusion that erupted between the two schools.

Situation under control

The Tema Regional Police PRO, ASP Joseph Darkwa, told Citi News that police personnel have been on top of the situation since initial reports of the clash came through.

“We had information that students from Tema Technical Institute had attacked Chemu Senior High. So quickly, we sent our patrol teams there. When police got to the scene, we realized that one student form Chemu Secondary high had been injured by the students from Tema Technical Institute.”

On Thursday, the Tema Technical students were regrouping to attack Chemu SHS, according to police Intelligence.

“…So quickly, we deployed our men to the place, and they [the Tema Technical students] never came. As I speak to you, peace has been restored. We positioned our men there the whole of yesterday [Thursday]. Today, [Friday], they are there, until we think they have to come back,” ASP Darkwa stated.
