Accra Brewery Limited (ABL), in partnership with Graphic Communications Group Ltd. (GCGL), has offered free health screening to the residents of Adabraka and its environs, doubling down on its commitment to create a healthier world.
Organised annually and highly patronized by residents of Adabraka and its adjoining communities, the exercise, currently in its ninth year, offers freegeneral medical screening, including dental and eye care,and registration and renewal ofNational Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) cards for minors and senior citizens.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Richard Eghan, Plant Manager,ABL, who expressed delight at the high turn-out, reiterated his company’s commitment to giving back to the community, especially one that has hosted them for over 8 decades.
He further stated that ‘while our commitment to giving back is without question, becoming a subsidiary of Anheuser-BuschInBev, the world’s largest brewer, has validated our commitment to impacting lives and creating a healthier world’.
Mr. Emmanuel Agyei Arthur, GCGL’s Communications Manager, expressed elation at another successful run of the exercise, further commenting that GCGL’s participation in the initiative stems from its aim to contribute to the country’s effort to ‘achieve universal health coverage, including access to quality essential health care services and affordable medicines for all’.
GiftyLankai, a resident of Adabraka and a beneficiary of the exercise, expressed her profound appreciation to ABL and its partners for consistently supporting the community with free health services, consequently relieving her of her medical burdens.
‘I don’t miss ABL/GCCL’s annual health screening exercise. It is my lifeline. For the past three years I have benefited from free,convenient medical services I wouldn’t have otherwise pursued on my own given my lack of financial resource,’ she said.
The exercise, which reaches over 1,000 people each year, was also supported by the Accra Diamonds Lions Club, the National Health Insurance Authority, the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, and Voltic (GH) Limited.
