DKT International, Inc Ghana (DKT) on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 organized a major float in the nation’s capital to highlight the importance of Family Planning.

The event also marked the celebration of this year’s World Contraception Day (WCD).

As part of educating consumers on contraceptives, DKT staff and supporters gave out Fiesta and Kiss Condoms for free.

Starting off in Dzorwulu, the float finally converged at Rawlings Park, Accra, to educate the public on the correct use of family planning methods and to correct the myths surrounding contraceptives in a fun and engaging manner.

The Country Director for DKT, Mario E. Flores Alvarez noted, “I believe that every day should be World Contraception Day.  A woman should always be able to decide if and when she wants to have children.  Having that ability, has well evidenced health and economic benefits for herself, her children, her partner, her family and for the entire country.”

She added, “That is why at DKT, we work hard to contribute in increasing modern contraceptive prevalence rate and reduce maternal mortality, by making quality family planning products and services available in Ghana.”

The annual worldwide WCD campaign centred around a vision where every pregnancy is wanted. Launched in 2007, WCD’s mission is to improve awareness of contraception and to enable (young) people to make informed choices on their sexual and reproductive health.

In Ghana, DKT joined the consortium of contraceptive stakeholders, led by the Family Health Division of the Ghana Health Service, for the 2017 Family Planning Week dubbed: “Know your body, know your partner, know your options”.
