Vivo Energy Ghana, a Shell Licensee as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility has donated 100 pieces of dual classroom desks, 3 playground equipment to Accra Sempe Primary school and 30 hand sewing machines, oven and its accessories to Bishop Mixed JHS.

“Vivo Energy Ghana will always work with and for local people and communities to share the rewards of our success,’’ Corporate Communications Manager of Vivo, Shirley Tony Kum said at the presentation ceremony in Accra.

According to her the gesture by Vivo Energy is in fulfillment of the company’s vision of supporting the community and education.

On his part, Managing Director of Vivo Energy, Ghana, Fred Osoro said Vivo as a company believes in the education which is the life line of the next generation.

‘’As a parent, permit me to express my worry at the number of school drop outs in this community; education is a right and not a privilege and we should all play our part in shaping the future of these young ones,’’ he  noted.

Mr. Osoro further explained that as a company and a neighbour operating in the Odododiodio community, it is ‘’not far-fetched to extend a helping hand to our immediate schools by assisting them with their needs to enhance learning through the provision of basic facilities needed in promoting quality education’’.

He added that the gesture also forms part of activities marking the one year anniversary of the company in Ghana.

Member of Parliament for the Odododiodio constituency, Nii Lantey Vanderpuiye, called on the beneficiary schools to put the everything they have received to good use and make sure it manifest in the performance of their schools in the next Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results.

Mr. Vanderpuiye also used the opportunity to advice parents and guardians to invest in the education of their children and wards instead of in funerals, outdoorings and other unnecessary ceremonies.

Present at the short ceremony were; Sempe Mantse, Otupkai Mantse, Teachers and pupils of the beneficiary schools.
