The office of businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome says it is considering some legal options that will aid it to seek redress following a Supreme Court ruling ordering Mr Woyome to pay back the GHC 51 million paid to him as judgment debt.
Spokesperson for Mr. Woyome, Reginald Dogbe says though they respect the court’s ruling, they are open to other opportunities to reverse the verdict.
“We have accepted the ruling but it is left for our lawyers to get the judgement, study it and then we will see what next,” he said.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday ruled that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) financier had to pay back the judgment debt he obtained against government because the contract under which the said judgement was procured is invalid.
The ruling follows a review of the court’s own earlier decision sought by former Attorney General (AG), Martin Amidu who insisted that Woyome, like Waterville and Isofoton, had no valid contract to be paid any amount by the state.
Reginald Dogbe told Citi News, Mr. Woyome’s legal team will meet to consider review options available to them.
According to him, Mr. Woyome and his legal team believe that “other remedies or windows of opportunities will be opened to us as far as this case is concerned.”
“We have accepted the results and we are going back to the drawing board and we will advise ourselves accordingly,” he disclosed.
