The King-makers of the Kpone Traditional area in the Greater Accra Region have appealed to the Ghana Police Service and the National Security to stop the installation of Nuumo Obli Tetteh as a sub chief.

A statement, signed by Barrister Eric Essumang Adu, on behalf of the King-makers, questioned the legality of the ceremony, as the Kingmakers claim to have no knowledge of the planned installation.

According to the statement, the ceremony contravenes the tradition of the area, which requires chiefs to be installed from any of the Sanchi, Kojo and Bediako clans.

The King-makers, believe that Nuumo Obli does not belong to any of the three royal families and as such, cannot be installed as a sub-chief.

The elders have called on the Inspector General of Police and the National Security to investigate the matter, as it could instigate clashes and confrontations among the residents.

The elders believe some “high profile personalities” may have influenced the process “to satisfy their selfish interests.”

They have therefore appealed to the authorities to ensure that these individuals are punished accordingly

Citi News reports indicate that the statement has been copied to the District Chief executive of the area, Alhaji Antieye Tetteh.
