Citi FM‘s Bernard Koku Avle this week trained some students of the Anyaa Experimental School in a one-day journalism workshop.
The 31 pupils were given practical introduction to news reading, news reporting, interviewing and so on.
The students took turns in questioning Bernard – the host of the award-winning Citi Breakfast Show. There was also a special mock interview where Bernard played the president of Ghana and was interviewed by one of the pupils.
Speaking to citifmonline after the event, the pupils expressed joy at the opportunity of meeting one of their mentors.
“We are very happy to have met Bernard. He is an icon and he has inspired us.”
On his part, Bernard said he feels “this is an opportunity to touch base with the future of the country and help them achieve their aims. I’ve had a great time with the school children and we intend to do more with our Citi Opportunity Project on Education. I hope those of us fortunate to be in positions of privilege help in the training of the upcoming generations for the good of humanity.”
The workshop was organized by Butterfly Effect, an organization whose aim is to personalize education by nurturing the abilities and talents of each child in order to benefit them and their community.To this aim they have a portable curriculum that we they implementing over next 2-5 years. They have created a network of people with different expertise who have committed to be called upon by their partner schools to perform a range of tasks to add value to school children.
