The Police Hospital morgue in Accra has been shut down for renovation works.
This was contained in a press released signed by the Public Relations Officer of the hospital ASP Juliana Obeng.
The hospital is therefore appealing to the general public to send their deceased relatives to other mortuaries.
Speaking in an interview with Citi News, the Public Relations Officer of the hospital, ASP Juliana Obeng expressed regret for all inconveniences within the period and assured the public the renovation works will be carried out swiftly so the facility can be reopened soon.
She also assured the public that adequate provisions have been made to cater for unclaimed bodies.
“We have made adequate arrangements to cater for unclaimed bodies. These are bodies that are picked up by the police but are rejected by other morgues so they are brought back to the Police Hospital”
ASP Obeng pleaded with the public to cooperate with the hospital to ensure a smooth operation adding that the technical team are working round the clock to solve the problem
“The technical people are yet to come out with the exact scope of the problem.I want to plead with your listeners to bear with us and that at the appropriate time when we are done with the works we will come out with an announcement. As it is now I want us to give the technical men enough time to do their work. We do not want to rush and in the long run shut it down again at another time for renovation, we want to this well and right,” she said.
