A Cape Coast Magistrate Court has convicted 3 persons for stealing seven car batteries valued at GH¢3,500.00 at Ayikoayiko, a suburb in Cape Coast.

Baba Alhassan, 18 and Edward Dixon, 20 were each fined GH¢600, were convicted on their own plea of guilty.

They would each serve two months imprisonment with hard labour in default.

However, the third accused Husseni Osman, an 18-year-old plumber who was serving a jail term on a similar offence was sentenced to eight months imprisonment with hard labour also on his own plea of guilty.

Prosecuting, Police Sergeant, Comfort Akorfa Banini, told the court presided over by Mrs Rita Amoayiwaa Edusa that the complainant, Mr Osei Akoto is an electrician and a resident of Ayioayiko in Cape Coast.

She said on Wednesday June 28, 2017 at about 0100 hours, the convicts were coming from a drinking bar at Tantri in the Cape Coast Metropolis.

The prosecution said on reaching the complainant’s shop at Ayikoayiko, they entered the shop using a duplicate key and stole seven car batteries valued at GH¢3,500.00 belonging to clients of the Akoto.

Mr Akoto reported the theft to the Kotokuraba Police where the convicts were arrested based on intelligence gathered by the Police.

Sergeant Banini said the convicts confessed their involvement in the crime during investigations and led Police to retrieve the stolen items.
