The Concerned Ghanaians for Responsible Governance (CGRG) has declared its support to the impending one-day protest by Organized Labour.

The group in a statement signed by its Executive Secretary, George Kojo Anti stated that one-day national protest affirms the various demands by CGRG to the present government over the management of the economy.

The CGRG is therefore entreating every Ghanaian to join the protest on Thursday because “Ghana deserves better than what we are currently experiencing.”

The statement also urged the personnel of the Ghana Police Service to be professional and assist the protesters during the demonstration.

Organized Labour has declared a one-day sit down strike and has called on its members to hit the streets in protest against the harsh economic conditions which have bedeviled the country.

Below is the full statement from the CGRG

FOCUS: IN SUPPORT OF TUC AND ORGANISED LABOUR LED 1-DAY NATIONWIDE PROTEST

GROUP: CONCERNED GHANAIANS FOR RESPONSIBLE GOVERNANCE (CGRG)

The Concerned Ghanaians for Responsible Governance (CGRG) is aware of an intended protest/strike action by the Organised Labour scheduled for Thursday, July 24, 2014.

The one-day national protest affirms the numerous demands by CGRG to the present government to be fiscally responsible, monetarily wise whilst focusing on timebound actions to bring the Ghanaian economy back on track and to aggressively pursue steps to punish non-performing, inept and corrupt officials.

Certainly Ghana deserves better than what we are currently experiencing.

CGRG is fully in support of the declaration by Organised Labour and urges all concerned Ghanaians to join the protest on Thursday, July 24, 2014. Let us come out in our numbers, clad in red, and join members of Organised Labour in this all-important fight for a Better Ghana. In doing so, let us exhibit the utmost respect for the law and conduct a peaceful demonstration.

We call on the Ghana Police Service to be professional and assist the protesters, by providing security on the day as it did during the Occupy Flagstaff House protest on July 1, 2014.  We all have a role to play in ensuring that Ghana works again.

We stand up, we speak up and we protest because we love Ghana.  Let us do this, for the love of Ghana. God Bless Our Homeland Ghana and Make Our Nation Great and Strong.

…SIGNED…

George Kojo Anti

Executive Secretary
