The  thirty-seven year old father who is suspected to have slashed the throat of his three year-old son in a village near Kpeve in the Volta region, will be arraigned before court on Tuesday.

The suspect, Gideon Abotsi, who is a farmer, was alleged to have  murdered his son on Friday in the full glare of his wife and other children.

Early reports indicate that the suspect slashed his son’s throat with a machete after he had been denied sex by his wife.

The police are still conducting investigations into the matter, however, the South Dayi district Commander-of-Police DSP Jonas Agbevam has told Graphic Online that Gideon Abotsi is suspected to have been under the influence of Indian hemp.

DSP Jonas Agbevam speaking to Citi News, confirmed that the suspect would be arraigned before court on Tuesday.

The police will also visit the suspect’s home in Kpeyibome for witness statements from his wife and neighbours who may have seen the crime being committed.
