The Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST) has been honoured at the 2017 Ghana Shippers Awards ceremony organized in Accra on Friday.
BOST was adjudged the Liquid Bulk Operator of the Year at the ceremony held at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra.
The award comes on the back of massive backlash BOST had received for selling 5 million litres of contaminated fuel to two unlicensed companies, Movepiina and Zup Oil, which were allegedly set up few days before the sale.
Ghana is said to have lost about GHc 7 million in revenue over the deal.
The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has further threatened to take legal action against the two companies while investigations continue into the matter.
BOST according to its website has a mission of managing the business of storage and transmission of fuel, focusing on excellence in security, safety and profitability.
It also has a vision of becoming the number one fuel and logistics business in Ghana.
But, it is currently unclear whether the company could achieve its vision and following further revelations that BOST sold contaminated fuel to about 38 companies, without an NPA license, between 2015 and 2016.
The Minority and Majority Members of Parliament have also waded into the controversy taking divergent positions.
Whereas the Minority called for the appointment termination of the current Managing Director of BOST, Alfred Obeng Boateng the Majority demanded a full scale investigation into the matter beginning from the former BOST boss, Kingsley Kwame Awuah-Darko.
