Man slaughters son in V/R

A thirty-seven year old father who slashed the throat of his three year-old son at a village near Kpeve in the Volta region will appear before court on Monday

The Peki Police have  identified the suspect as Gideon Abotsi, a Farmer.

The horrific incident occurred on Friday in the full glare of Gideon’s wife and other children.

According to Citi News’ Volta regional correspondent, Norbert Akpablie, “the man slayed his three year old son with a cutlass for his wife’s refusal to bring forth an additional child to the four children they already have.”

Some of the residents who witnessed the unimaginable scene told Citi News that the wife of the farmer is in complete trauma.

The victim’s mother was reportedly devastated and inconsolable after the incident.

The Peki District Police Commander, Deputy Superitendent of Police (DSP) Mr, Jonas Abgbevam said Abosti confessed he had been under the influence of Indian hemp.

Meanwhile, members of the farming community are still in a state of shock over the conduct of the suspect.

The Volta Regional Commander, ACP Peter Yentumi who confirmed the incident has said the suspect has been arrested and is expected to appear before court on Monday as investigations continue.
