The Police Administration has given organized labour the green light to demonstrate on Thursday against the worsening economic conditions.

The labour unions were given clearance to exercise a constitutional mandate after meeting the requirement of the Public Order Act.

Speaking to an Accra based Joy News, Greater Accra Police PRO, DSP Freeman Tettey confirmed  it, saying, “We had a fruitful interaction with them (labour) and at the end of the day there was a consensus that the demonstration will come on”.

He said the police have had a fruitful meeting with the leadership of the impending nationwide protest to streamline the exercise.

He explained that when the parties met, they expressed their respective concerns, but they managed to “have a common ground”.

DSP Tettey assured the general public that the police are adequately prepared to handle all the security needs to regulate the protest because they will not be “so much engaged” on Thursday.

He added that the Police are counting on the assurance of the organizers that the demonstration would be peaceful.
