Some members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region have called on President Nana Addo Dankwa to re-nominate Mr. Stephen Donkor as the District Chief Executive for the area.

Mr. Donkor was voted against by the Assembly members on his first endorsement. He had 11 Yes and 40 Nos at the end of voting.

The results sparked confusion among NPP youth and their party leadership in the District. Some accused the parliamentary candidate of the constituency Mr. Kwesi Bonzu and the acting National Chairman of the NPP, Mr. Freddie Blay of masterminding his massive rejection.

At a press conference held at Nkroful on Wednesday the angry party youth called on the President to re-nominate Steven Donkor who according to them “who comes from the forest belt in the constituency and is a grass roots person or lose massive votes come 2020.”

They called on persons believed to be opposing Mr. Donkor’s reappointment to desist from the act because “we think the President’s decision to nominate Mr. Donkor was inspired by God, as it is politically strategic, morally rewarding, academically worthy, socially seeking balance in raising leadership in the District.”

They warned that if the president fails to re-nominate Stephen Donkor, the move will disrupt the peace in the district and spell doom for the party in the 2020 general elections.

“The President must also expect abysmal votes from the forest belt in the general elections because, No Stephen Donkor, No Vote, No Stephen Donkor, No Peace and No Stephen Donkor, No DCE,” their statement concluded.
