The Ashanti Regional Police Command on Saturday dawn arrested seven more persons in connection with the murder of Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama.

Captain Mahama was lynched by some residents of Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central Region after residents claimed they mistook him for an armed robber.

[contextly_sidebar id=”gnO2uj8GohpAuZeHnKVUIY4XxQi4WhqM”]The police have so far arrested some 17 suspects and have vowed to arrest all perpetrators involved in the incident.

The new arrest thus brings the number of suspects to 21.

Confirming the arrest to Citi News, the Public Relations Officer of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, ASP Juliana Obeng, said the suspects will be transferred to the Central Region for further investigations.

“The Command has arrested seven persons who are suspected to be part of the mob that lynched the late Captain Adam Mahama. All of these suspects are presently in police custody in the Ashanti Region.”

“Meanwhile, there are plans underway to send them to the Central Region for further investigations. These persons were arrested this dawn in some parts of the Ashanti Region. We are taking them back to the Central Region because that’s where the investigation actually started.”

She added that, two of the suspects were allegedly harbouring the other five suspects who had escaped from the town where the incident happened.
