The Member of Parliament for Ofoase-Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has donated 1,500 mathematical sets to be distributed to all final year students in junior high schools in his constituency.
He donated the items as part of his educational interventions, and the items are intended to aid candidates as they prepare to take the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) on Monday.
Mr. Oppong Nkrumah encouraged the students to prepare adequately to pass the examination as it is a stepping stone for the next phase of their lives.
He also admonished students to restrain from examination malpractices and wished them success during the exam period.
Receiving the items on behalf of the students, the District Director of Education for Akyemansa district, Mrs. Elizabeth Korkor Amanor, expressed gratitude to the Member of Parliament for the gesture, even as they look forward to more of such support.
A total of 1,204 final year students across the Ofoase-Ayirebi constituency benefited from this donation. The examination is set to begin countrywide from Monday, the 5th of June 2017.
WAEC statistics indicate that, with a total score of 600 being the maximum raw score in six subjects, 3,994 candidates got more than 500 in the 2016 BECE.
