The demonstration which was organized by Accra-based radio station, Adom FM, was dubbed the “Fabeworso.

It was aimed at compelling the Akufo-Addo government to retrieve monies supposedly stolen by officials who were in the Mahama government as well as public sector workers.

“It is ll about corruption. In Ghana here they declared war against Galamsey which I think it is very good, but to me I think corruption is a big issue we are facing here.  We know it is a new government. All we are saying here is it is not really about politicians. There are a lot of Chief Executive Officers from Standard Board chopping individuals’ money.”

There have a number of reports about alleged misappropriation of state funds by officials and appointees of the Mahama government since the National Democratic Congress party left office.

The former president’s brother was forced to pay back some 12 million cedis as import duty for equipment imported into the country and was investigated for issuing dud cheques to the Ghana Revenue Authority.

Presently the former CEO and some board members of the National Communications Authority are being investigated by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) for sharing a sum of four million dollars intended for spyware between themselves.
