The spokesperson for the Ghana Cycling Federation, Dennis Moore, has told Citi Sports that the nation’s contingent for the Commonwealth games are progressing well as they continue with preparations ahead of the games which begin later this month.

He disclosed that the cyclists have already spent a month in Glasgow to enable them habituate properly before the games begin.

“They are all in Glasgow and they have been there for a month, training before the race itself.

“I have been speaking to the coach on a daily basis and he has assured us that the boys are in top shape,” he said.

Unique among the team, is Scotland-based Jedidiah  Amoako Ackah, who will contest in the velodrome which is the race arena for the cyclists.

Ackah, who took up cycling just 10 months ago, previously specialized in judo and boxing until he met Ghanaian-born Glasgow businessman Sean Dyantyi, who was leading a project to have a Ghanaian racer at the games.

He will be teaming up with the likes of Aminu Mohammed and Samuel Anim who are locally based.

The team have pitched base at Ayrshire  where they await the start of the games on the 23rd of July.
