An ex-convict, Mallam Suleman, has been nabbed by the Regional Police Command for allegedly robbing students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) of their valuables.

Mallam Sulemana, also known as Romeo, is said to have stormed the hostel of the students at Ayeduase, near Kumasi, in the company of three other persons, on Monday, May 23.

The robbers, according to the Regional Police Commander, DCOP Ken Yeboah who briefed the press, “held the students hostage and took mobile phones, money and a television set from them.”

“Unknown to them, there was a tracker on one of the mobile phones, and with the assistance of the Police we were able to trace the suspects.”

A search conducted on Mallam Sulemana by the Police revealed “a locally manufactured pistol, 10 BB live cartridges, two Nokia mobile phones, one ladies wrist watch, and GHc 52 on him.”

The suspect, Mallam Sulemana admitted to the crime but was quick to add that his three accomplices were on the run.

DCOP Ken Yeboah said investigations are still ongoing, as they hunt for the three accomplices.
