Black Starlets head coach, Paa Kwesi Fabin, has debunked media reports stating that members of the team had been hit with illness.
On Monday, several reports made the rounds that a number of the Starlets’ playing body had been hit with illness suspected to be malaria or cholera.
The reports stated that the team was in a fix ahead of their semi-final against Niger in the ongoing African U17 Championships in Gabon on Wednesday.
However, Fabin said at the official pre-match press conference on Tuesday that, the reports were false.
“Let me correct an erroneous impression. There is no cholera in our camp as I speak. So, those stories are not correct.
The players have been preparing and they trained yesterday and you can come to the Sogara training facility later today to see all of them training. Those reports are false.”
The team will be facing Niger for the third time in some months and Fabin is hoping for a good match.
Ghana and Niger played twice against each other in Accra in two friendly matches and Fabin is aware of the knowledge the teams have about each other.
“We know them fairly well and they also know us. So, I believe it will be a very interesting match. We played them twice in Accra before flying to Gabon so we know about each other.”
While Ghana face Niger in the first semi-final in Port Gentil, Mali and Guinea play against each other in Libreville.
