The Korle Bu Teaching Hospital Senior Staff Association (KOSSA) is alleging that the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the hospital, Rev. Albert Okpoti  Botchway weeks after the sector Minister appointed a new Acting CEO.

The Association in a statement stated that there are attempts by the  Board Chairman of the Korle Bu Hospital, Mr. Eddie Annan to disrespect and defy the directive that “Rev, Albert Okpoti Botchway should step down as Acting CEO of the hospital’.

“‘Information available to KOSSA indicates that Rev. Okpoti Botchway is still in office, approving documents and fast tracking activities that are in his favour, including the recruitment of staff,” the statement signed by the President of KOSSA revealed.

According to association the continous stay in office by Mr. Okpoti Botchway could be ”injurious” to the hospital because he is likely to ”conceal vital information”.

The Senior Staff of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital further noted that the attempts by the Board Chairman of the Hospital to flout the orders of the Health Minster as ”unfortunate”. ”… it conforms to the conduct and attitude of Mr. Annan of defying directives from the Hon. Minister of Health since he assumed the chairmanship of the board of Korle Bu.”

The association however, in a statement has vowed to  resist any attempts to keep the sacked CEO at post. ”KOSSA wishes to reiterate that it is determined to ensure respect and compliance of superior directives for the betterment of the hospital. If the directive of the Minister of Health is ignored or defied by Mr. Edward Annan, KOSSA will ensure the enforcement of the Minister’s orders…,’the statement added.
.

KOSSA also said effective July 24, 2014 it will ensure the takeover of the CEO’s office and other facilities of the office to enable the new Acting CEO, Dr. Samuel Asiamah assume office as directed by the Minister
