Vice President, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia has restated government’s preparedness for the implementation of all the assured flagship pro-poor programmes.

Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia was addressing the chiefs and people of Gonjaland at the Yagbonwura’s palace in Damongo as part of his four days tour of the Northern Region.

“One village-one dam, people thought we were joking, we are not joking. The funds have been allocated and the one village-one dam projects will start this year in the three northern regions for our people. We said we were starting one district-one factory and we are going to start it this year as well,” he asserted.

He said contractors will soon commence work on some water projects in Gonjaland including that of Damongo.

“One of the problems we found when we came around in the Gonja traditional area and the other areas was the water problem. We have a major water problem here and I have good news for you that the Managing Director of Ghana Water Company Limited, Dr. Clifford Braimah and the Minister for Water Resources will put their heads together and solve this problem once and for all.”“Engineers have already visited the sites and pledges have been made. We are also going to construct a major water project in Damongo and all these will cost 25 million Dollars.”

The overlord of Gonjaland who doubles as President of the Northern Regional House of Chiefs, Yagbonwura Tuntumba Boresa I assured the government of continual peace and unity in Gonjaland.

He appealed to the government to support the Gonjaland Traditional Council build a befitting palace for the area.
