Ahead of the May 16 impaneling of a jury in the J.B. Danquah-Adu murder trial, the family of the late Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North, wants the state to re-open investigations into the murder of the MP.
The Bretuo family at Old Tafo in the Eastern Region, mounted a huge banner with the picture of the late legislator at the forecourt of the Bretuo palace seeking for well wishers to append their signatures on the banner.
The banner with the inscription “we want to know who killed the late Member of Parliament” comes in a week after the same family organized a press conference on the latest developments in the trial of the suspects involved in the murder of the late MP.
In an interview with Citi News, the Spokesperson for the late MP’s family, Kwaku N. Solomon, said “this signing of the banner, dubbed 2 million signatures, is a follow up to the press conference we organized last week, it’s another petition we are sending the president to reopen a new investigations into the killing of J.B. Danquah-Adu.”
He added that “this is open to the general public to come out in their numbers to sign so that we petition the first gentleman of the country to see to it that fresh investigations are opened and a speedy trial done.”
Kweku Solomon thus called for the support of all well-wishers in the country, saying, “we will take the banner to other regions in 4 days time for others seeking justice into the gruesome murder of the late benevolent MP to also sign. We are entreating all Ghanaians who want justice in the case of our beloved son, father and brother to come out and sign the banners for justice delayed is justice denied.”
