The winner of the 2013 edition of the Citi FM Write-Away Contest has advised school children to take advantage of the competition to add value to themselves.

Miss Isabel Quaye, in an interview with citifmonline, says the competition is one of a kind and students should send in their entries before the closing date.

She has urged prospective participants to take time to write their entries to stand a chance of winning the 5000 cedis prize money.

“If you want to write, just read. The thing about the essay is you need to read it, you need to understand it and you need to feel it,” she said.

“Just take it cool, you are not under pressure. Research a lot and get other people’s perspective about the topic,” she added.

The closing date for the submission of entries for the 2014 Citi FM Write-Away contest is August 1 2014.

The competition involves exciting school engagements to select schools in the greater Accra Region, a one month official writing phase where children are given the chance to pit their thoughts, writing skills and creativity against that of other children across the country and a grand awards ceremony to award and celebrate the overall best.

Children who would want to participate must write a story with their own fictional characters in not less than 600 words that ends with the idiom “a bird in hand is worth two in the bush.”

Completed entries must then be posted to THE WRITE-AWAY CONTEST, P.O. Box GP 14123 Accra Central by the 1st of August 2014. Entries can also be submitted to the front desk of Citi FM, behind the Adabraka Police Station, Accra.

The Write-Away Contest is sponsored by Standard Chartered Bank and Indomie Instant Noodles and supported by Finlite and the Volta River Authority.
