Northern Regional Chairman of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has warned detractors of the party to tread with caution ahead of the upcoming internal elections.
Chief Sofo Azorka sent an early warning signal to the aggrieved party supporters who recently threatened to burn party properties in Tamale to rescind their intention or incur his wrath.
The angry youth raised alarm over some guidelines issued by the NDC National Executives in connection with the impending internal elections.
They issued a three-day ultimatum to the National Executive Couuncil to reverse its directive that persons aspiring to contest the internal elections should have previously occupied a position in the party.
The agitated youth threatened to burn the NDC regional office in Tamale on Thursday 10, July, 2014 if the National Executive Council ignored their plea.
Irritated Chief Sofo Azorka exclusively told Citi News, the agitators will regret if they dared to activate their agenda.
He announced October 2, 2014 as the day slated for the regional elections and admonished all interested candidates to pick their nomination forms when the exercise begins.
He said the regional leadership will operate in tandem with directives by the National Executives.
Chief Azorka challenged the angry youth to use the party’s internal dispute mechanisms to resolve their grievances and stop threatening mayhem.
He declared his intention to seek re-election with the anticipation that he will be retained by the delegates.
On Thursday July 10, 2014 at about 7 am, Armed Army personnel were on high alert at the NDC regional office in Tamale near the Workers College.
