Drivers in the Eastern Region are threatening to increase their fares due to the deplorable sate of road in the region

Commercial drivers are contemplating on the 40% – 60% fare increment due to damage their vehicles suffer on the roads.

They say the poor roads in the area  increases their costs of maintenance.

Patrons of ambulance service also stand to have a share of additional charges.

Meanwhile, many school children in that area have abandoned their classrooms and resorted to filling potholes for money.

These children are seen using school hours to fill portholes.

Citi FM’s Easter Regional Correspondent Kwame Appiah Kubi  who is in the area said  “they find their presence on the road lucrative as drivers give them money. For this reason, they have little motivation to return to the classrooms. The decision by the drivers has not gone down well the residents who say they are not faring any better economically” he said.
